The open bridge deck catamaran "Pukuri" is 39ft (12m) long and 24ft (7,40m) wide, draft is less than 2 ft (50cm).
She was built 1991 in Germany with the strip planking method, red cedar as the core material and two layers
of glass and epoxi inside and outside. Construction weight is only 3,6 tons.
The designer is Malcolm Tennant (from New Zealand), the model is 'Jayar'.
She has a cutter rig with 3 foresails with hanks and a full battened main with 3 reefs.
No fixed keel but 2 daggerboards for better upwind sailing performance.
Accomodation is for 6 people.
I am the second owner since 1999, did a lot of cruising in the Mediterranean sea.
I left Europe 2008. Pukuri is now in Tahiti/French Polynesia.
During the atlantic crossing we had a lot of bad weather but we finished the trip without big problems in 14 days.
We crossed the pacific from Panama to Galapagos in 8 days and onto the Marquesas islands in another 17 days without using the engine.
Pukuri is a strong and fast sailing boat and also performs very well in light wind.
The asking price is 40.000 Euro
